The German Shepherd, as its name indicates, comes from Germany. Its origins date back to the late 19th century, when former German Army cavalry captain Max von Stephanitz initiated a program to create a breed of dog perfect for field work. However, this dog lover changed his idea when he saw that this breed exceeded all expectations (intelligence, reliability, resistance and obedience), before which he proposed to the German government to involve them in police and military work.

In this way the German shepherd was used in the two world wars as part of the German army. It was so popular that declared enemies of that nation, such as the United Kingdom and the United States, began to buy these animals, of course, under another name: Alsatian shepherd (they did not use the German term).

Since then, the German Shepherd has had a huge impact on the world. They are noble, faithful, protective, sociable, intelligent, educated and athletic animals. They are ideal for family living (they adapt very well to small children). And they can weigh up to 40 kg and measure 66 cm.
