Traditionally, the month of January is marked in Utrera by the celebration of an appointment that is highly anticipated by lovers of German shepherd dogs. This is known as the Utrera Monographic Exhibition of the German Shepherd Dog, an event that is organized by the Royal Spanish Club of the German Shepherd Dog and that has the support of the Utrera City Council. It is an appointment that would not be possible without the impulse that José Antonio Ramírez from Utrera has offered him for years.

The space chosen for this event is the facilities of the San Juan Bosco municipal stadium, where on Sunday, January 22, breeders and fans from all over Spain, the south of France and Portugal will arrive. Access to the public will be free, while the hours of activities will be from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, January 21, some pre-tests will take place at the same location.

On this occasion, some of the best specimens of these dogs from all over Spain will arrive in Utrera, which will be valued by the judges Herr Ulrich Haussman, Jens Becker Olsen and Juan Vargas. The best specimen born in Andalusian lands will take the ‘Eduardo Villanueva’ trophy.

As a curious fact, José Antonio Ramírez from Utrera, organizer of this event, who is a conservatory professor, has composed the anthem of the world union of German shepherd dog clubs. A melody that will surely sound in Utrera during the celebration of this event.

The year 2023 is going to be a special year in Utrera for lovers of these dogs, since in addition to the traditional monographic, in the month of October the city will host the most important event held nationwide. This is the national breeding exhibition organized by the Royal Spanish Club of the German Shepherd Dog (CEPPA). A date on which more than 600 specimens of German Shepherds from all over Europe will arrive in Utrera.
